KUALA LUMPUR: UDA Holdings Bhd has denied rumours that Kompleks Niaga Utama (KNU) at Bangsar will be sold and demolished.
In a statement, it said it is in the midst of redeveloping the complex, due to take place next year.
The company said the complex’s tenants have been informed of this plan about nine months ago and their contracts have been renewed on a monthly basis.
“We are now in the process of obtaining the Development Order full approval from Kuala Lumpur City Hall,” it said.
UDA also said it will always inform the tenants of the latest status of the redevelopment of the complex, and will issue a six-month notice to allow them to make preparations to move.
It added that business is still running at KNU and the rental rates and service charges imposed by UDA to the tenants are still among the lowest in the Bangsar Utama area. The complex is located not far from Bangsar LRT station.
UDA issued the statement in reaction to a report in an English daily stating that UDA has been keeping silent over talks that KNU was to be demolished.
In response to the bad condition of KNU as reported in the article, UDA said it has always been conducting maintenance works and has upgraded the toilets, lifts and its lobby for the comfort of the visitors and tenants.
