KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Auto Performance Sdn Bhd (SDAP), the official importer of Porsche vehicles in Malaysia, will open an outlet in Penang by 2014.
Chief executive officer Arnt Bayer said the company was confident about the country’s sales growth and had many customers in Penang.
“Therefore, it was selected as the third outlet. The current outlets are in Bukit Bintang and Glenmarie in the Klang Valley. After Penang we are going to set up another branch in Johor Baru,” he said.
He was speaking after announcing SDAP’s participation in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2012 (PCCA).
Around 400 cars from its various models were sold last year, compared to 100, when SDAP took over the brand in 2010.
SDAP targets to sell 400 cars this year.
The Porsche March, a new model, which is a smaller version of the Cayenne, will be launched in the middle of 2014.
Meanwhile, guest driver Tan Sri Azman Yahya will be representing the SDAP team at Round Seven and Eight of the PCCA.
