RM280.1m allocation for PPR homes in Kedah
ALOR STAR: The Federal government had approved RM280.1 million allocation to build 1,850 home under the People’s Housing Programme at five locations in Kedah.
Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government deputy minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique said the projects would start this year and expected to be completed within three years.
Halimah said the PPR homes would be built in Jitra, Kota Setar, Air Itam, Padang Terap, and Changloon.
She said each of the PPR home was built at a cost of RM160,000 but they were being sold at about RM35,000 each to those family with monthly household income of RM2,500 per month.
“The government is subsidising RM125,000 for each house to make sure that the rakyat from the low-income group can enjoy a better life,” she said at the launching of state-level PPR Housing Programme at Kampung Naga, Jitra by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
Halimah said the ministry would build 312 unit of PPR homes in Kampung Naga with an allocation of RM51.2 million.
Meanwhile, Mukhriz said the state government would launch three more housing projects in the state soon, as part of its target to build 40,000 units of low cost, medium low cost and affordable homes in Kedah by 2018.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced that 20,000 units of PR1MA housing in Kedah.
